Dr. Richard Ulm, DC

Dr. Richard Ulm is currently a chiropractic physician at and owner of the Columbus Chiropractic & Rehabilitation Center in Ohio.  He is a former strength coach and post-collegiate athlete who actually qualified for both the 2004 and 2008 track and field Olympic trials.  His background in athletics has profoundly affected the way he treats and trains athletes.  In his practice, he sees the full spectrum of patients from elite athletes to the severely dysfunctional hoping to avoid (another) surgery.  Because of his background in a passion for weight training, he sees a high population of training sport athletes: CrossFit®, Power Lifting and Olympic Weightlifting.  His treatment style is very hands-on, blending a combination of active exercise with manual therapy and technique training. Dr. Ulm is an international instructor of Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) for the Prague School of Rehabilitation, an adjunct profession for National University of Health Sciences and an instructor for the Motion Palpation Institute. Seeing the need blend the medical and performance training fields, in 2012, he started Athlete Enhancement®, a company dedicated to helping coaches better train their athletes and medical providers to better treat their patients (www.Athlete-Enhancement.com).

Erin McGuire, PT, OCS

Erin McGuire PT, OCS has been a physical therapist for 22 years.  Owner of Back in Balance Physical Therapy, in Los Angeles, CA, Erin is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and a Prague School of Rehabilitation DNS instructor/practitioner.

It was during her first couple years of practice, while focusing her continuing education on manual therapy, that she was introduced to the movement system approach; including the philosophies of professors Vladimir Janda  and Shirley Sahrmann.  In 2005, these movement system principles led her to Prague, Czech Republic, where she began her studies of Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) with Professor Pavel Kolar PT, Paed Dr, Ph D.  After four years of studying and practicing DNS, Erin became one of the first internationally certified DNS practioners in 2009.

Having competed at the NCAA level of softball in college, as well as having a lifetime interest in sports, focusing her practice on treating the orthopedic and sport rehabilitation population was a natural fit. While she utilizes an eclectic approach in her practice, it is largely influenced by the DNS philosophy and the concepts of the Prague School of Manual Medicine.  Her passion for movement and practice of DNS has increased her interest and focus on the diaphragm and it’s functions, relating to both respiration and intra-abdominal pressure, and the key role they play in creating optimal stabilization and movement.  In 2014, she created the core360 belt, a tool to facilitate proper utilization of the diaphragm and to increase awareness of how important the diaphragm muscle is in movement and overall well-being.  Through teaching and the core360 belt, she hopes to assist other practitioners in understanding the principles of DNS and how to better utilize the approach.
